JAKARTA, Agung Intiland News — The construction project for the Kamal–Teluknaga–Rajeg (Kataraja) Toll Road, which began in late 2023 and will continue throughout 2025, has now entered its initial operational phase. Phase I of the Kataraja Toll Road was officially opened for functional use on October 9, 2025, marking a new chapter in strengthening connectivity between the western and northern regions of Jabodetabek.
The opening of this toll road section is considered an important catalyst for economic activity, particularly in the Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) 2, Teluknaga, and Rajeg areas, which have been rapidly developing as residential, commercial, and industrial and logistics zones. Some parties believe the presence of the Kataraja Toll Road will speed up the flow of goods and labor mobility, while also reducing the travel time burden for distribution.
Quoting Antara news, the Kataraja Toll Road becomes a new strategic access directly connected to the national toll road network. In the initial operational phase, the toll road section was opened functionally without tolls as part of operational testing, simultaneously supporting the national agenda and large-scale activities in the PIK 2 area.
Boosting Industrial and Warehousing Efficiency
The operation of Phase I of the Kataraja Toll Road also directly impacts industrial and warehousing areas in Tangerang Regency, including Laksana Business Park located in Pakuhaji District. This area has developed over the past few years as a center for industrial, logistics, and warehousing activities targeting the Jabodetabek and national markets.
With closer and more integrated toll access, businesses at Laksana Business Park are projected to achieve significant efficiency in goods distribution, both to consumption centers in Jakarta and to major logistics hubs such as Soekarno–Hatta International Airport and Tanjung Priok Port. Shorter transit times have the potential to reduce operational costs while simultaneously improving supply chain reliability.
New Investment Magnet
Beside supporting smooth logistics, the Kataraja Toll Road is also seen as a new investment attraction factor. Toll road infrastructure is considered one of the main considerations for investors in determining the location of industrial and warehousing facilities. Areas directly connected to the toll road network generally have higher competitiveness compared to regions with limited access.
In this context, Laksana Business Park is strategically positioned to capitalize on these opportunities. Improved connectivity is opening up opportunities for investors in the manufacturing, distribution, and modern logistics sectors, as the need for efficient and integrated warehousing facilities increases.
Acceleration of Regional Economic Growth
The government and business actors are optimistic that the operation of the first phase of the Kataraja Toll Road will accelerate economic growth in the northern coastal area of Tangerang and its surroundings. Looking ahead, the next phase of development sustainability is expected to further strengthen the region's role as a new industrial, logistics, and investment hub in Jabodetabek.
With continuously developing infrastructure, industrial and warehousing areas like Laksana Business Park are projected to become an important part of the regional economic ecosystem, while also supporting the national agenda in strengthening the competitiveness of Indonesia's logistics sector. (JP)
