JAKARTA, Agung Intiland — Security issues in industrial areas have once again come under scrutiny after a number of cases of thuggery in various regions of West Java and Jabodetabek surfaced throughout 2023–2025. Although the scales vary, the emerging patterns indicate that business operators in industrial areas still face risks of extortion, intimidation, and physical threats that can disrupt production and distribution activities.
In some cases, the police have been forced to take swift action following reports from companies and workers. In several industrial areas, thuggery targets logistics vehicles, security posts, and night shift workers. Law enforcement efforts so far have been deemed quite effective, but some business owners still see the need for increased internal vigilance in each area.
Security industry observers believe that logistics and manufacturing facilities are vulnerable locations due to their 24-hour operations and high volume of vehicle traffic. "Thuggery in industrial areas usually takes advantage of nighttime mobility and unmonitored dark areas. Security systems must remain adaptive," said an industrial security analyst.
This situation has led some industrial areas to take their own preventive measures, including increased environmental patrols, wider CCTV coverage, and tightened access controls. Areas that implement layered security standards are considered more capable of minimizing potential disruptions.
One of the areas implementing such security measures is Laksana Business Park, an industrial and warehouse area in North Tangerang. The area management emphasizes that all operational areas maintain 24-hour security systems, regular patrols, CCTV monitoring at critical points, and vehicle access control to ensure stable logistics activities.
"We ensure that the area is always under surveillance, especially during nighttime when security risks usually increase. Tenant and worker security are our priorities," said a representative of Laksana Business Park management.
With the increasing dynamics of criminal activities in several industrial areas, management hopes that preventive measures like these can become a new standard for modern industrial areas. Laksana Business Park also reaffirms its commitment to providing a safe and structured environment for manufacturing companies, logistics, and SMEs in need of warehouse and office facilities in one location.
